Su Majestad el Rey, que fue recibido a su llegada al Museo Nacional de Arte de Catalu\u00f1a por el presidente de la Generalitat de Catalu\u00f1a, Salvador Illa, presidi\u00f3 la cena oficial del \u201cMobile World Congress Barcelona 2025\u201d, evento de la industria m\u00f3vil y tecnol\u00f3gica m\u00e1s grande e influyente para el ecosistema de la conectividad<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seguidamente, el Rey y el presidente de la Generalitat de Catalu\u00f1a recibieron el saludo del ministro de Industria y Turismo, Jordi Hereu; del ministro para la Transformaci\u00f3n Digital y de la Funci\u00f3n P\u00fablica, \u00d3scar L\u00f3pez; de la vicepresidneta ejecutiva para una transici\u00f3n limpia, justa y competitiva de la Comisi\u00f3n Europea; del delegado de gobierno en la Comunidad Aut\u00f3noma de Catalu\u00f1a, Carlos Prieto; del alcalde de Barcelona, Jaume Collboni; del director general de GSM Association (GSMA), Mats Granryd; y del presidente del Consejo de Administraci\u00f3n de Fira de Barcelona, Pau Relat, entre otras autoridades.
\nTras los saludos, y antes del comienzo de la cena oficial del \u201cMWC BARCELONA 2024\u201d, Don Felipe, acompa\u00f1ado por el resto de autoridades, se dirigi\u00f3 a la Sala Oval, donde, tras ocupar su lugar en la mesa presidencial, se produjeron las intervenciones sucesivas del alcalde de Barcelona, del director general de GSMA y del presidente de la Generalitat de Catalu\u00f1a.
\nDespues de estas intervenciones, Su Majestad el Rey en sus palabras agradeci\u00f3 \u00ab…nuevamente a la GSMA, a la Mobile World Capital (dentro de ella a FIRA BCN\u2026), y a todos los que colaboran hoy \u2013o lo han hecho a lo largo de los a\u00f1os\u2013, por vuestra dedicaci\u00f3n, desvelo y gran trabajo para organizar este despliegue espectacular que cada a\u00f1o nos abre ventanas al futuro, nos ofrece motivos de esperanza y nos acerca el mundo a Espa\u00f1a, a Catalu\u00f1a, a esta querida y gran ciudad de Barcelona\u201d.
\nEl acto concluy\u00f3 con la intervenci\u00f3n del vicepresidente de GSMA Board y consejero delegado de Barthi Airtel, Gopal Vittal y con el anuncio y entrega del Premio \u201cGSMA Chairman Award\u201d a Mats Granryd, director general de GSM Association (GSMA).
\nEl \u201cMWC de Barcelona\u201d es el \u00fanico momento del a\u00f1o en el que todos los que son importantes en el mundo de la conectividad se re\u00fanen bajo un mismo techo. Decenas de miles de l\u00edderes de las principales empresas globales, gobiernos internacionales y empresas tecnol\u00f3gicas pioneras convergen para conectarse y crear el futuro.
\nLa edici\u00f3n 2025 del Mobile World Congress (MWC) est\u00e1 convocada un a\u00f1o m\u00e1s en la Fira de Barcelona para celebrarse entre los pr\u00f3ximos 3 y 6 de marzo. Seg\u00fan las previsiones de la entidad organizadora del MWC, la GSMA, este a\u00f1o recibir\u00e1 m\u00e1s de 101.000 visitantes durante los primeros d\u00edas de marzo, lo que se traduce en un impacto econ\u00f3mico estimado de entre 540 y 550 millones de euros.
\nComo novedad, la edici\u00f3n 2025 del MWC tendr\u00e1 como temas principales la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) y la evoluci\u00f3n del 5G en sus diferentes aplicaciones. As\u00ed, se prev\u00e9n tambi\u00e9n conocer las \u00faltimas novedades en rob\u00f3tica y aplicaciones de smart home, con su consiguiente impacto sobre la sociedad.
\nEl evento prev\u00e9 congregar aproximadamente 2.700 expositores procedentes de m\u00faltiples pa\u00edses y alrededor de 1.200 conferenciantes durante los cuatro d\u00edas de la feria. Entre los expositores volver\u00e1n a Barcelona grandes empresas tecnol\u00f3gicas como Google, Huawei, Meta, Samsung, Microsoft o Xiaomi, adem\u00e1s de grandes empresas espa\u00f1olas como Telef\u00f3nica, que tambi\u00e9n presentar\u00e1 sus novedades en el MWC 2025.<\/p>\n

Palabras de S.M. el Rey en la cena oficial<\/strong>
\n\u201cNos volvemos a encontrar un a\u00f1o m\u00e1s en esta gran cita del Mobile (MWC), imprescindible en la agenda de quienes trabajan cada d\u00eda para llevar la tecnolog\u00eda un paso m\u00e1s all\u00e1, explorando nuevas dimensiones de la innovaci\u00f3n y creando soluciones que transforman nuestra manera de vivir y de trabajar. Tambi\u00e9n lo es para aquellos a los que nos apasiona la tecnolog\u00eda. Es la XIII\u00aa edici\u00f3n a la que asisto y realmente es un placer poder acompa\u00f1aros de nuevo.
\nHace ya \u2013o tan solo\u2013 tres a\u00f1os, lo hac\u00edamos como hoy, pero apenas unos d\u00edas tras el comienzo de la guerra a gran escala en Ucrania con la invasi\u00f3n rusa. Las razones para la firme condena y rechazo de tal agresion contraria a la legalidad internacional y la Carta de NNUU siguen muy vigentes y nuestro pa\u00eds, junto a la UE y muchos otros as\u00ed lo seguimos haciendo. Quiero enviar, por tanto, una vez m\u00e1s y desde esta gran cita mundial, nuestro coherente y sostenido mensaje de solidaridad y apoyo \u2013sustentado con palabras y acciones\u2013 al pueblo ucraniano en su leg\u00edtima defensa y en su aspiraci\u00f3n y derecho de lograr una paz justa y duradera, defendiendo su independencia e integridad territorial.

\nPermitidme ahora, por tanto, dar la bienvenida m\u00e1s cordial a todos los participantes, especialmente a quienes han viajado desde lejos para asistir al que podemos considerar \u00abel mayor y m\u00e1s influyente acontecimiento mundial sobre conectividad\u00bb. Con 2.700 empresas expositoras y 1.200 ponentes, las cifras hablan por s\u00ed solas.
\nEl Mobile va arribar a Espanya, a Barcelona, per primera vegada el 2006, i des de llavors no ha deixat de cr\u00e9ixer en contingut i en repercussi\u00f3 fins a convertir-se en un referent s\u00f2lid del sector. Catalunya se situa de nou com a punt neur\u00e0lgic de la innovaci\u00f3 tecnol\u00f2gica. Durant els propers dies, aqu\u00ed es donaran cita una important representaci\u00f3 d’alts directius de les principals companyies globals, firmes expositores, startups, l\u00edders d’opini\u00f3 i responsables p\u00fablics que, de moltes maneres, faran realitat el lema d’enguany: convergir, connectar i crear.
\nVoldria compartir algunes breus reflexions sobre aquest, ja que resumeixen la meva visi\u00f3 del paper del Mobile en l’actual ecosistema digital. Permetin-me que continu\u00ef la meva intervenci\u00f3 en angl\u00e8s.
\nOn the 1st part of this year’s three word theme, \u00abconverge\u00bb, I believe we can all agree that the Congress is above all a meeting place \u2014an immensely important meeting place \u2014, for debate and for sharing knowledge and experience on major connectivity challenges. At this year’s event, revolving around AI, it is vital to reaffirm the industry’s commitment to safe and responsible development. Let us be open and forthcoming but also cautious and not na\u00efve.
\nMoving forward in a coordinated way will be central to ensure that we implement this transformation with the utmost safety and security for consumers, who have entirely understandable concerns over protection and privacy. Now, as so often has been the case, the key will be to strike the right balance between innovation and regulation.
\nMoving on to the 2nd word of the theme, \u00abconnect\u00bb, the MOBILE unquestionably enables networking between suppliers and clients, authorities and businesses, and the public and private sectors. The aim is clear: to find common ground, work together, and build an ecosystem that encourages development, extending well beyond the mobile technology sector. This event is a space where all kinds of interrelated technologies meet with connectivity, directly or indirectly, expanding its reach and boosting the creation of innovative solutions that can feed into different industries and sectors.

\nTurning to the 3rd and final word that composes the theme, \u00abcreate\u00bb, these networks unarguably promote new ideas, products and services, which in turn drive the creation of new businesses. Many projects become a reality thanks to start-ups, which play a vital role in job creation, innovation and competitiveness. This dynamic ecosystem not only fosters economic growth but also ultimately contributes to the well-being of society as a whole.
\nLadies and gentlemen,
\nSpain is taking great strides forward in communications and technology, with rapid advances \u2013beyond the scope of this event\u2013 towards a more digital and connected future. Our country has some of the best infrastructure for connectivity in the world; Spain has the largest fibre optic network in Europe (3rd largest in the OECD); and more than 90% of \u00abover-fifteens\u00bb have a mobile phone.
\nIn addition, Spanish is the 3rd most frequently used language online, with 515 million users, surpassed only by English and Mandarin.
\nThis connectivity has facilitated a number of achievements, including good performance by our economic model and growth in exports of non-touristic services.
\nSpain also has over 190,000 mobile telecommunications stations and an extensive network of undersea cables connecting it with Europe, Africa and the Americas; in fact, the cable connecting Spain with the USA is the fastest in the world.
\nThis entire infrastructure, all of this progress, is possible owing to the remarkable drive of the private sector \u2014by your businesses\u2014 with steadfast support from the public sector. It is crucial for the two sectors to work towards shared goals: improving the Spanish economy, and consolidating our performance both as an attractive and stable market and as a loyal partner in Europe and the world at large.
\nLadies and gentlemen,
\nThis progress, these advances, benefit greatly from two key spaces within this Congress, which I cannot fail to mention:
\n\u00abFour Years from Now\u00bb, where great ideas are shaped; a place for start-ups and investors to meet, a place where digital start-ups can interact with the major players in the ecosystem, and where investment opportunities may lead to the next big innovation. Over its 11-year history, the event has forged a solid reputation as a driver of creativity and entrepreneurship.
\nAnd \u00abTalent Arena\u00bb, a space for attracting talent, which has grown since the pilot event in 2024. More than 200 experts will share their experiences in this event, to foster learning and also links among professionals in the digital sector, to promote growth, and drive the development of talent in the industry.
\nOn the subject of growth and development, before I finish I would like to thank Mats Granryd for his outstanding work with the GSM Association over the past nine years. Mats, it has been a true pleasure to walk this path with you.
\nYou said that \u201ccon buen pan y vino, no te faltar\u00e1n amigos\u201d. Over these past years, you have proven yourself to be a friend who shares not only his bread but also his wine, a friend who is always generous and enthusiastic.
\nI know well how much work and passion you have devoted to the industry and GSMA, but I also know that you have most often enjoyed the sometimes-rocky ride\u2026 Thank you, my good friend, for also helping to put our great city of Barcelona at the forefront of innovation. I am sure that again the good work and results of this new edition of the MWC will extend well beyond this week, as they always have.
