Tim Kravchunovsky, founder and CEO of the decentralized telecommunications network Chirp, says Donald Trump needs a better understanding of the blockchain landscape if he really wants to make America a crypto hub<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tim Kravchunovsky, founder and CEO of the decentralized telecommunications network Chirp, says: \u201cThe US needs a pro-crypto president who will support American innovation. At the moment, presidential candidate Donald Trump\u2019s policies on decentralized infrastructure are piecemeal at best, but his openness toward blockchain is promising.
\nHowever, the concern is that a second-term President Trump may not actually implement policies that would truly support the DePIN industry, or may remove existing policy, like he did with net neutrality during his previous tenure. Net neutrality is a law ensuring that Internet Service Providers (ISPs) treat all Internet data equally, meaning they have to offer a uniform service to everyone, regardless of where they live or how well off they are.
\nTrump’s move sent the FCC into a years-long debate, which was a complete waste of time and harmful to the end consumer. Net neutrality was a common sense policy that both the industry and Americans wanted, and which also creates an environment for DePIN to be a part of accessible broadband. Will Trump remove it again if he wins the election?
\nI understand Trump\u2019s efforts to increasingly remove the government\u2019s control and let industries run themselves, but even the DePIN sector needs that top-down support to thrive. Without supportive regulation, small decentralized projects will never be able to compete against ingrained players, who are often unwilling to sit at the table with us. On the other hand, however, if Trump as President could slick the runways to support public-private partnerships, this will pave the way for DePIN and DeWi industries to offer new and innovative solutions for consumers, businesses, and government.
\nTrump needs to learn more about the depth of development in the blockchain industry. Despite what he might think, it’s not just about Bitcoin. There is so much more exciting innovation happening that can change American lives for the better. The DePIN industry will have to do its part to bring those solutions to the masses and educate the political candidates ahead of the election in November.\u201d<\/p>\n
